Back from a 60th Birthday celebratory trip to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, here are several of my art travel journal entries. So fun to be painting with so much color, texture and whimsy.  Ole Ole. Come on my Painting In Mexico trip March 10-20, 2017 and make your own journal!

Jim Bloomer’s art show at Breadworks

img_4705img_4749img_4752I’ve been working as an art therapist/art buddy with Jim Bloomer for the past 6 years and he is exhibiting his abstract  acrylic paintings at Breadworks through Nov. 4, 2016, his first painting exhibit.  A very big boost to his identity as an artist, Jim’s cards, made from his paintings, sold out during the opening!

Coming Back To Life

After many months hibernating amidst the process of grieving the death of my husband Peter, I made some tentative steps back into painting while on vacation with my mom and my sister on Sanibel Island. The shells, the beach, the sand, the waves, soothed my soul, as did painting.

More Mexico Paintings, In Progress

IMG_3226Portrait of a Cactus,  painted on location at the Jardin Botanico in San Miguel de Allende, feels like a painting that has captured the personality of this cactus.  I’ve been working on the background and like the current starkness, which leaves the cactus so proud and dramatic, jutting upward into the hot and hazy sky.  Two more Mexico paintings in progress–one of Patsy’s hacienda in the countryside around San Miguel, and another of a typical San Miguel street view.

Mexico Paintings 3-15

And some of my paintings started while demonstrating on the Painting In Mexico trip, March 2015, all painted on location, en plein air, in San Miguel de Allende.   Such inspiring color and places and objects to paint down there.
